Why we’re building emmi

The care gap in PMOS (PCOS) is massive, and women deserve better advice than “just lose weight and go on birth control,” or having to scroll the depths of Reddit at 2 AM.

PMOS isn’t just (very) annoying symptoms. Left unmanaged, it can significantly increase the risk of infertility, type 2 diabetes, and cardiovascular disease – not to mention the negative impact it can have on mental health and self esteem.

But even after receiving a diagnosis, navigating treatment options felt like a whole new set of hurdles. The current standard of care for PMOS? Birth control to regulate cycles, maybe fertility medications if you’re trying to conceive, and “lose weight” (which is incredibly hard when PMOS makes weight loss difficult). That’s it. For a chronic condition you live with forever.

Nobody is helping women systematically figure out what works for their specific hormone imbalances, suggesting evidence-backed interventions, or serving as an empathetic support system when carrying all of this feels heavy — that’s where Emmi sits.
